The glove’s stiff protector, or armour, is the most noticeable and defining feature. It’s crafted using the Swiss firm Schoeller’s original Keprotec® technology. When a layer of Kevlar is applied on top of a layer of plastic profiled to the hand, the result is a protective glove that perfectly absorbs blows from a clenched fist. Since the palm’s inner side is especially prone to painful abrasions, this protection is invaluable.
The Kevlar® aramid fibre developed by the DuPont company is used for the outer fabric. It is non-conductive, does not dissolve in organic solvents, and can withstand high temperatures without melting. It is very resistant to abrasion and cuts, which is one of its main benefits. In order to prevent any accidental cuts from the knife’s blade, glass, or other sharp edges, the gloves are fastened securely.
The Smart Tacs have a natural leather lining that makes for a sure grip. A double layer of leather was applied to vulnerable areas. In addition, working with small tools is made easier by the leather’s thickness and its softness, which promotes precision.
